RINO token and tiers
Understand RINO locks, tier requirements, pool limits and fee discounts.
What the token is for#
RINO is an access token. Locking it raises the most you can put into one market and lowers the fee you pay on profit. That is the whole of it: locked RINO is never collateral for a position, it is not exposed to a market outcome. An evacuation-enabled deployment gives its emergency authority the power to freeze the system and move all backing to one migration contract.
The supply is fixed at 1,000,000,000 RINO with 18 decimals. Every tier threshold is a basis-point slice of that fixed supply, so no oracle and no price sits anywhere in the tier calculation.
Managing your lock in the app#
Open Profile → Balances & RINO tier to see RINO management and the tier guide without expanding a dropdown. Use Lock / Unlock to choose one action in the same panel. Review the amount and any unlock delay or penalty before confirming in your wallet. Switching views does not submit a transaction.
The vault#
The vault holds locked RINO. Normal unlocking is controlled by the account owner; markets cannot slash it. The evacuation coordinator is fixed when the vault is deployed and cannot be replaced or added later. Its authority can permanently freeze operations, including unlocking, and transfer the backing to a migration contract. Account balances, checkpoints and pending unlocks remain readable. This is an emergency custody power; it does not upgrade the old vault or restore access automatically.
Locking credits your balance from that second. If RINO ever shipped with a transfer tax, the vault credits what actually arrived rather than what you asked to send.
Unlocking is priced by patience, not forbidden:
- you choose a delay between zero and fourteen days;
- leaving instantly costs 5% of the amount; the penalty falls linearly to zero at fourteen days;
- the penalty is burned to the canonical dead address and is publicly countable there — the protocol never books revenue that depends on you leaving;
- your balance leaves the moment you request the unlock, so your tier drops now rather than after the delay;
- a pending unlock can be cancelled at any point before it is withdrawn: the full amount goes back into the lock with no penalty, and nothing accrued while it was pending.
The lock cap. One account can hold at most 20,000,000 RINO locked, which is 200 basis points of supply; the top tier requires 12,000,000 RINO (120 bps). Past it, more locking buys nothing, and the contract refuses it.
How your tier is read#
A tier is never read from an instantaneous balance. The vault reports an effective balance of
min( seven-day time-weighted average balance, balance right now )
and your tier is the highest one whose threshold that number clears.
- Promotion is slow. A freshly locked amount counts toward the average from the moment it arrives, so a new lock of X reads as X multiplied by the fraction of the week that has passed. The interface prints the seven-day average as its own number beside the raw balance for exactly this reason; without it, every new locker's first experience is that nothing happened.
- Demotion is instant, because the live balance is inside the
min. - The peak tripwire. If your balance falls below 80% of your own high-water mark, re-promotion is blocked for seven days and your effective balance is capped at the level you dropped to. Requesting an unlock is what trips it, and cancelling the unlock does not undo it.
The ladder#
| Tier | Threshold (bps of supply) | RINO locked | Fee discount |
|---|---|---|---|
| GRAZER | 0.6 | 60,000 | 0% |
| CALF | 2.4 | 240,000 | 5% |
| BULL | 9.6 | 960,000 | 10% |
| CHARGER | 30 | 3,000,000 | 20% |
| HERD | 72 | 7,200,000 | 30% |
| JUGGERNAUT | 120 | 12,000,000 | 40% |
Below the nominal GRAZER threshold, the contract still uses GRAZER as its base tier: no discount and base capacity. The 40% ceiling on the discount is a compile-time constant with no setter anywhere in the protocol.
Capacity#
The table below shows pool position caps in USDG, per account, per market. These are upper limits, not a promise that the full amount is available. They do not imply identical caps on the order-book exchange.
Your tier depends on your RINO lock. A market’s class describes how its result is resolved:
| Class | How the result is decided |
|---|---|
| A · On-chain facts | Data recorded on the blockchain determines the answer. |
| B · Official reports | Attesters verify a result published by an official source. |
| C · Measured results | A measured or indexed result is proposed with a bond and follows the market’s resolution process. |
| D · Committee judgement | A designated committee decides the result using the market’s published rules. |
Topics and classes are separate. Politics, sports, crypto and weather describe what a market is about. Its resolution method determines its class; a topic alone does not tell you which cap applies. Check the market’s rules and class before entering. See Fees.
| Tier | Class A | Class B | Class C | Class D |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| no tier / GRAZER | 500 | 250 | 150 | 100 |
| CALF | 1,500 | 750 | 400 | 250 |
| BULL | 5,000 | 2,500 | 1,200 | 750 |
| CHARGER | 15,000 | 7,500 | 4,000 | 2,500 |
| HERD | 40,000 | 20,000 | 10,000 | 6,000 |
| JUGGERNAUT | 100,000 | 50,000 | 25,000 | 15,000 |
Class F, the zero-fee featured class, uses the Class D caps. Minimum-position requirements, the pool’s capacity ramp, concentration limits, and market and resolution-lane caps still apply. They can leave less capacity available than the tier cap shown above; the market ticket shows the current bound. See Positions and withdrawals.
Gates#
Two gates read the vault and both ship open:
- an entry gate requiring some minimum locked RINO to post any position at all, set to zero at launch and changeable by governance up to a hard ceiling;
- a points gate requiring at least CALF for the points board, controlled by a runtime flag so it can be turned off without a redeploy.
The preview creation flow models BULL-tier venue policy. Actual creation permissions and costs come from the connected factory; its open-template creation path has no tier check. See Create from a template.
