Categories and curation
How topics, tags and featured markets help you discover questions.
Topics#
Every market can carry up to five topics from a fixed list:
Crypto · DeFi · Network · Stablecoins · Ecosystem · Politics · Sports · Esports · Finance · Economy · Geopolitics · Tech · Culture · Weather · Elections.
Topics are how discovery is filtered and how a proposal is filed. They never change a market's settlement rules. A market's outcome comes from its template, its parameters and its resolution lane, and adding a navigation label cannot create a new way of resolving anything. The list is broader than the templates that exist: a topic in the list is not a promise that a template exists for it.
A market created from a template gets default topics from its source — a USDG metric is Crypto and Stablecoins, a Uniswap metric is Crypto and DeFi — pinned by catalogue id, never guessed from the title.
Editors#
An editor can change a market's topics and set a featured flag. The change is a wallet-signed record with an audit entry naming the editor, the market and the payload. Featuring is a discovery decision: it decides what is shown first, not how a market pays. It is unrelated to class F, the zero-fee "featured or retention" risk class, which is a template property fixed at creation.
Curators#
A curator is an address the market factory recognises. Curators have exactly two powers that are not permissionless, and neither is a power over money:
- creating a market from a restricted template. One launch template, the calendar occurrence, is restricted, because its subject is prose and its resolver is a committee of people; an open subject field would be an unbounded queue of work for humans rather than a parameter a contract can check;
- seating a petitioned token once its notice has run — which is a governance call the curator's desk prepares.
A curator cannot resolve a market, price one, pause one or touch escrow. Governance seats and unseats curators, and governance can permanently open a restricted template; it can never re-restrict one.
The administration page shows the connected wallet's actual roles as read from the chain and states the reason a control is or is not available. A stranger who reaches the page by typing the URL sees the same buttons and gets a reverted transaction. No deployer-address exception exists.
Proposals#
A public proposal is a signed request and nothing more. See Propose a question.
