Create from a template
Choose a supported question, set its parameters and review creation costs.
Creating is defining, not writing#
There is no free-text question. A market is a template with its parameters bound, and its title is the template's wording with those parameters substituted, rendered live as you fill the form. A form that let somebody type a question would be a form the factory rejects, so the input does not exist.
Anyone may create from an open template, subject to the rules below. There is no allowlist of creators in the factory and no tier check in it; restricted templates require the curator role.
The launch templates#
| Template | Class | Lane | Outcomes | Sources it can name |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| On-chain threshold | A | chain read | YES / NO | USDG total supply · Uniswap v4 positions opened · any listed token's supply · RINO locked in the vault |
| On-chain range | A | chain read | four bands | the same four |
| Off-chain threshold | B | attested | YES / NO | chain total value locked · USDG in circulation · exchange volume in a day · USDG total supply |
| On-chain band | B | attested | four bands | the same four |
| Calendar occurrence | D | committee | YES / NO | a public announcement, committed as evidence at creation — curators only |
A template fixes the risk class, the outcome count, the earliness premium (50% on the threshold templates, 25% on the band templates, 0% on the calendar template), the minimum pool (250 USDG for the chain and calendar templates, 500 for the attested ones), the settlement timer — which is the resolution lane — and the bounds every parameter must fall within. See Template permissions and notice periods.
A source that the resolving contract cannot actually read is shown disabled rather than offered: a template's bounds can accept a source and metric pair for which the chain reporter has no catalogue row, and a market created with one would pass the factory's checks and then fail when the lane is armed. Any listed token's supply is readable only once governance has seated that token. See Token-listing petitions.
Thresholds and bands#
A threshold is compared, unscaled, against the raw value the source reports. USDG has six decimals, so "700 million USDG" is the integer 700,000,000,000,000 on chain. The form never asks for that number: you work in the units on the label, the form converts, and the base-unit integer is shown back as a read-only echo.
Every threshold and band edge must be an exact multiple of the template's grid — 1,000 base units on the chain templates, 1,000,000 on the attested ones — or the factory refuses it. The grid is what stops near-duplicate markets: 41,001 is not a representable threshold. The form snaps to the grid and offers presets as offsets from the metric's current level, because a round absolute stops being interesting the moment the metric passes it.
Timing#
The factory enforces, in this order:
- the opening time is in the future and at most 30 days ahead;
- the market runs at least 24 hours;
- it runs at most 30 days, or at most 90 days on a template registered as a deadline shape — at launch, the on-chain threshold template;
- the resolution deadline is at least one hour after the cut-off and at most 30 days after it;
- the opening plateau ends at the opening time plus the smaller of one tenth of the run and fourteen days.
The form validates and simulates creation before submission. Chain state can change before mining, so simulation cannot guarantee success. Two markets with the same template, the same parameters and the same cut-off are the same market, and the second is refused.
What it costs#
Two amounts leave your wallet in the creation transaction, covered by one approval:
- a creation bond by class — 25 USDG for classes A and F, 50 for B, 75 for C, 250 for D, and never below the venue's minimum position. The bond is returned to you, permissionlessly, seven days after the market is finalised or voided. It can be forfeited only by a court address that has no incumbent in the launch configuration, so no slashing path exists at launch. See Deadlines, disputes and refunds;
- a creation fee — 2 USDG at launch, governance-settable between 0 and 100 — sent straight to the fee router.
Both are charged once per one-off market and once per series, never per series instance. No creator share of trading fees exists on chain.
Series#
A series is a template with its parameters bound and a cadence attached — daily, weekly on a given weekday, monthly on a day up to the 28th, or rolling every so many days up to a year. It pays one bond and one fee, ever, and its instances pay neither. In exchange, an instance's cut-off is pinned to a global grid at midnight UTC rather than chosen by whoever creates it, a series has at most one live instance, and the next instance can be created no earlier than 24 hours before the current one cuts. A series can let anyone roll its next instance or reserve that to its owner; closing a series is what makes its bond refundable. Series creation uses the pool path; exchange listing is a separate action.
Venue policy applied by the interface#
The preview form models these venue policies; they are not factory contract requirements:
- creation is offered from the BULL tier upward;
- concurrent and daily creation limits by tier (BULL 3 and 2, CHARGER 10 and 5, HERD 30 and 12, JUGGERNAUT 75 and 25);
- a mandatory opening position of 25 USDG in the creating flow.
The factory checks none of these. The form says so beside the money panel. A veto window and a creator share appear in the venue specification and are not built anywhere; this documentation does not describe them as features.
After creation#
The market appears in discovery once its opening time arrives. Its parameters, its template, its lane and the exact query it will be resolved by are on the market page from the first second. See Evidence and sources.
Admin creation costs#
On the updated contracts, governance and current curators pay no creation fee or creation bond, including for approved real-world event templates and series. Public creators pay the costs above. Revocation restores costs for future creations. Exempt markets have no creation bond to slash; resolution bonds and trading collateral remain separate. Template permissions, duplicate checks and settlement rules still apply.
